Different Extension Designs

An extension is a great way of adding space to your property whilst also adding value.  Whether it is a new kitchen/dining area or a double storey extension, DMB Solutions can take you through the whole process from start to finish.

There are many extension options available in order to suit the wants and needs you have within your home and DMB is here to help.  Using their expertise, our designers can assist in narrowing down the range of possibilities available and help decide what would be best for your property.

1.gifIf it is a single storey extension you would like, a flat roof side extension may be suitable.  This is useful for clients who would like to extend the width of their property without compromising the rear garden.  The flat roof will keep the costs down and on semi-detached properties, allows for an effective and affordable extension solution. Planning Tip:  Side extensions cannot be bigger than half the width of the property and must not exceed 4m in height. 


2.gifA pitched roof rear extension is a very common design, especially within busy areas and terraced properties.  By making sure the design is correct and the build is efficient, DMB can ensure there is minimal disruption throughout the construction process.  Planning Tip:  The roof pitch must match that of the existing property and the maximum eaves and ridge height must not exceed 4m in height. 

 
 

3.gifA pitched roof rear extension is also available for two storey extension projects.  Whilst they may look expensive due to their size, costs can be reduced through effective engineering and wise material choices.  The potential value this could add to your property also ensures that this design may also prove to be actually financially beneficial!  Planning Tip:  The roof pitch must match that of the existing property and the maximum eaves and ridge height of this extension must be no higher than the existing height of the house.


4.gifFlat roof side extensions allows for increased ground floor space, whilst ensuring the cost is kept down due to the flat roof feature.  Additionally if at a later date you decide to add a further first floor extension, then the flat roof can be strengthened to proof this forward thinking!  Planning Tip:  Extensions must not exceed a height of 4m or the total width of the property, it must also not extend beyond 3m at the rear or the property if terraced/semi detached and 4m if it is a detached property.


5.gifSingle pitched side extensions can incorporate roof windows and the extra space, coupled with the vaulted ceiling and ingress of light, makes what was once a dark space, a large and bright new area.  Planning Tip:  Roof pitch must match that of the existing property and the maximum eaves and ridge height must not exceed 4m from rear elevation.
