Types of Loft Conversion

Roof Lights
This is usually the most cost affective method of converting a loft space. By the use of natural light and a simple structure what once was a storage area can be converted into a habitable space.

Single Dormer
Applying a single dormer allows the roof space to become dynamic and effective. These are favoured by planners in conservation areas, as they add a sympathetic aspect to the building's look. If permitted, a double dormer can be used to increase space and add symmetry.

Side Dormer
A side dormer offers added dimension to any building and can help aid an improved layout where a hip-to-gable extension might not be necessary.

Hip-to-Gable
When a roof is hipped, an effective use of the loft space can be to push the hip out into a gable end. This can improve the look and function of your building whilst increasing the space required. If maximum space is required, a full width rear dormer can be incorporated.

Full Width Dormer
To really maximise space this dormer type really achieves a completely different feel to any loft space. Whether it be a master bedroom with ensuite or study that is needed or both this conversion gives a true sense of space.

Is your loft is suitable for conversion? With expert design, almost certainly - but you can find out for free. The chances are, your home will be ideal for one of the following:
